hey gang, happy november. i hope you had a spooky halloween and an extra sweet start to your fall season. my october was really nice. i was pretty busy, but got to take a little time away from nyc and artmaking to chill upstate around woodstock for a few days, which was much much needed. i often find myself fantasizing about moving up there… but that’s for the future.
i didn’t find myself getting too into the halloween spirit this year, regrettably. halloween is my favorite time of year, but this year has just been filled with so much busy-ness and burnout that has led to a general air of apathy. i can’t really be the only one. like, it felt like there were no halloween parties this year… right? i didn’t see many folks dressing up either. anyways, i’m planning to make up for it hardcore next year.
so what have i been up to that’s been keeping me so busy? well, you’re in the right place to find out. the answer is lots of art and lots of tattooing. read on for more ;)
side note: i got some really nice feedback about my deep valley deep dive on inspiration from back in september. i definitely want to continue working on these longer format pieces. i think a rigid schedule of every month on the 15th is a bit too restrictive and demanding, though, so i’m just going to be putting these out on a rolling basis when i’m done writing them. i’m working on the next one and should have it done soon.
i still have space for tats this month! here’s my current booking link for november appointments
and if you’re keen, here’s my early access booking link for december appointments
new flash
New flash wow! look at it!
as always, here’s a reminder that each design is only available once in black and gray, and once in color. flash is non-reservable. if you’d like to see all my available flash, please check out my google drive here.
note: working on getting a physical flash book together to look at in-studio
cool tattoos from the last month
part of the reason october has been so busy is that i’ve been really laying on the tat appointments. most of this year has been a little more laid back. i’ve been working less, so i could focus energy on other projects. but i really needed to grind this month, so packed the appointments in and got so many cool pieces done. anyways, here are some of my favs from this month!
september was all about black and gray, but october was a big color month. some of these are flash, some are custom. either way, i am here to tattoo whatever it is your heart desires. let’s make something cool together! book something in november / december?
what else am i working on..?
studio stuff!
i’ve also been in my painting studio a lot more this month. i’ve been hustling to try and get three paintings done by november 15th, for this residency application i’ve been really wanting to send in. the residency would be next summer for 9 weeks, so i’m really hoping i can get the work done in time to apply! if not, i've got other pieces i can sub in.
getting back into painting has sort of consumed me over the last 2-3 months. finishing work feels real good, but painting takes so much time. time i don’t have for other stuff! so a lot of other projects have been put on pause. things i’d like to get back to in the winter include getting a web shop up and running, making a new shirt, and whipping up lots of cool new illustrations + tat stuff. i feel like i have infinite projects i want to do and zero time, but i’m really grateful to be busy and feel like there’s so much to do.
anyways, here’s what i’ve been working on!
dog on beach
i’m considering this painting finished, at least for now. this one is going in the application for sure. i think i probably included it in a previous newsletter. need to get a better photograph of it soon.
narcissist cock
renamed this one. overall i am very pleased on the progress. i think it’s like 80% done. I have to finish the roosters head, then paint in the background and i’ll be all set. i think maybe 1-2 more painting sessions. i’ll most likely be able to get this done for the application
to be loved is to be changed
i’m making substantial progress on this big guy as well! i repainted the main figure, and painted the wolf in. i would really really love to include this in the application as well, but it’s pretty big and i still have a lot of work left. i still need to paint in the first layers on the birds, rocks, and pools of blood at the base, re-paint the grass layer + add ground shadows, possibly repaint the sky with some clouds/fog, and then go in and do details like the faces, eyes, textures, etc. i’m not really sure if i’ll have this done in two weeks… seems unlikely haha. but that’s ok! i’m making good progress and learning a lot as i go. i have plenty of things to include outside of my oil stuff. the oil paintings just feel like the most relevant for what i’d like to do at the residency.
as far as i can throw you
i’ve put this guy on the backburner as i’ve been focusing on getting the other two finished for the application, but early this month i repainted the figure on this guy. i proudly took this pic, then realized the figures left arm and leg were weird and disproportionate, and i went back and fixed em. so all i need to do really is repaint the grass + add a shadow, paint the bow & arrow, paint the snail, and maybe repaint the sky. this palette is really similar to the above painting, so i might use it as a practice place to figure out a way of handling the grass and sky so i don’t fudge up the big one. i have one more painting i haven’t touched since i started it in june, and im not sure i will finish it! maybe… but i also grabbed some new canvases and am excited about starting some new paintings once all this application stuff dies down.
if anyone wants to do a studio visit, please shoot me an email! i’m very interested in showing this work and potentially getting into some group shows coming up.
the end of throw & co
it’s with a heavy heart that i bring you the sad news that throw & co is closing at the end of the year. i’ve put out 4 blankets over the years with throw & co, and have always loved and appreciated the level of freedom and exploration i’ve had with these projects. please head over to the throw & co website and grab a blanket before they close down for good. i’ve got three designs still up for sale, but there are so many fantastic blankies from tons of talented artists.
this will be the end of my blanket run, for now, so make sure to grab one if you’ve ever considered it because they won’t be available anymore starting soon.
blanket 1 - summoning
not available
blanket 2 - resurrection
blanket 3 - retribution
blanket 4 - horsemen

dubois farms
isabella and i went upstate (as mentioned previously) and on the way back we stopped at dubois farms to do some apple picking. this place was hella cute. a little apple orchard with some farm animals and pumpkins and grapes and barns and shit. mad cute. i never went apple picking before, and it was honestly great. so many different kinds of apples… i didn’t believe they’d all taste different but they definitely did. i was shocked.
after we checked out, we went over to their tavern and got one of the best pizzas i’ve had in a while. honestly shocked at how good it was. it was some kind of pesto pizza and man, i wanna go back just to get some more. the vibe was absolutely perfect for a fall day. if you’re looking for a spot to go next year, def hit this one up!
monster house
i watched many movies this month, but most of them are pretty obvious halloween picks. my roommate threw on monster house last night though, and i was kinda not stoked to watch it. it’s a kids movie after all. i didn’t remember liking it as a kid either. but i was pleasantly surprised by how well the animation aged, the humor, and the overall story (more touching than i remember). definitely a simple kids movie above everything else, but i found myself laughing frequently. add this one to your halloween movie watch list for next year!
dark souls iii
ok ok ok, i’m coming clean about something. i’ve never played dark souls iii. i got like halfway through the first dark souls then my computer broke. never tried it again and never gave ii or iii a shot. i’m a huge elden ring, sekiro, and bloodborne fan but always found dark souls hard to parse. but now i’m going hard, and really enjoying it. might go back and try the first and second after this. maybe demon souls? who knows… i’ve also heard nioh is good. what’s your fav souls-like?
honorable mentions
studio time means music time. i’ve been listening to so much more than usual. ml buch, arthur russell, drug church, bjork, nothing, elliott smith, brian eno, and the microphones have been my fall soundtrack. recommend me stuff for november!
i’ve been catching up on the one piece anime while the manga is on a break (end of wano → current) and … sheesh! the animation on egghead island is amazing. i always rec one piece. watch it! and read the manga too ;)
i got lunch at maya congee in bedstuy recently and it was pretty bomb. weird hours though! but go if you can
other movies i enjoyed this month: my bloody valentine, insidious, donnie darko
if you liked this month’s newsletter, leave a comment and let me know what you think! always happy to hear from y’all.
resources for palestinian action
i’ve decided to start including resources for those wishing to take action for palestine in my monthly newsletter. i think it’s extremely important that we all use whatever power we have to speak up and act out collectively.
please understand, your silence is complicity. take the time to learn what is happening. make your voice heard. help to end this genocide.
this is a google doc that is regularly updated. it includes protest information, places to donate, boycott targets, resources to educate yourself, and many other resources to take action.
dog on beach goes insanely hard
